Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Associate with 3-6 years of experience for its Sacramento office. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software, or Computer Science and be admitted to the USPTO or eligible to take the Patent Bar.

Duties

  • Collaborate with clients to expand and protect intellectual property portfolios.
  • Interface with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements related to intellectual property.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of relevant patent law experience.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software, or Computer Science.
  • Admission to the USPTO or eligibility to take the Patent Bar.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.

Certifications

  • USPTO admission or eligibility to take the Patent Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent academic performance.
  • Interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities.
  • Preferred experience with consumer electronics, software, web-based services, full-stack development, generative AI, machine learning, data structures, data storage, and databases.
