Job Overview:

A respected California-based law firm specializing in workers’ compensation defense is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Attorney to join its growing legal team. This position is flexible and can be structured as remote, in-office, or hybrid, depending on the candidate’s location and level of experience. Ideal for self-motivated and detail-oriented attorneys, this opportunity offers a high degree of autonomy, strong support staff ratios, and a collaborative environment focused on quality representation and client service.

Location:

  • Long Beach, CA

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of workers’ compensation defense files

  • Represent clients in all aspects of WCAB litigation, including hearings and depositions

  • Draft legal documents including reports, motions, briefs, and settlement documents

  • Conduct depositions of applicants, witnesses, and medical experts

  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and WCAB personnel

  • Develop case strategy and provide risk analysis to insurance carriers

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and case progression

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in workers’ compensation defense

  • Ability to manage cases independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in litigation procedures, including taking depositions and attending hearings

  • Familiarity with all California WCAB venues

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and communication skills

  • Ability to draft detailed legal reports and filings for insurance carriers and WCAB

  • Well-organized, self-directed, and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable using legal tech platforms to manage caseload efficiently

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team
