Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level trademark associate with three to six years of experience to join its Technology & Intellectual Property Practice Group in Portland, OR. This role offers the opportunity to work with leading companies on sophisticated trademark, copyright, advertising, and online brand protection matters, contributing significantly to client brand development and protection.

Duties

  • Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios.
  • Handle trademark prosecution matters before the USPTO and coordinate with foreign counsel.
  • Develop and implement trademark protection and enforcement strategies.
  • Conduct trademark clearance searches and prepare risk assessments.
  • Support Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings.
  • Counsel clients on copyright protection, registration, and enforcement.
  • Address digital content issues, including domain name disputes and DMCA takedown matters.
  • Draft and negotiate intellectual-property agreements.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence in transactions.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and contribute to business development initiatives.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • 3-6 years of trademark experience at a reputable firm.
  • Experience handling the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Excellent analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently.
  • Experience communicating directly with clients and managing projects.
  • Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction or ability to obtain admission by waiver.
  • Interest in business development and building long-term client relationships.
