Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation to join their team in Los Angeles, California. Duties

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation claims from inception to resolution.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and settlement conferences before the WCAB.
  • Conduct client intake and maintain empathetic communication throughout the case.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, trial briefs, and correspondence.
  • Handle discovery, including depositions of parties and experts.
  • Negotiate settlements and prepare necessary agreements.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants to advance cases efficiently.
  • Stay informed on changes in California workers' compensation law.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active California State Bar membership.
  • 1-3 years of experience in workers' compensation matters (applicant-side preferred).
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
  • Professionalism and confidence in courtroom and client interactions.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate, client-first mindset with strong interpersonal skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
