Job Overview
On behalf of a Houston-based law firm, we are seeking an Associate Attorney to handle all aspects of personal injury and litigation matters. This role involves working closely with clients, overseeing case strategies, and providing legal counsel on both personal injury and corporate litigation. The position is based in Houston, TX, and offers the opportunity to work on a diverse caseload, including personal injury cases and corporate transactional matters.

Duties

  • Handle pre-litigation and litigation phases of personal injury cases.
  • Attend client meetings to gather facts, determine causes of action, and establish attorney-client relationships.
  • Provide strategy for managing pre-litigation and litigation case dockets.
  • Oversee the transition of pre-litigation personal injury cases to litigation.
  • Draft settlement demands, pleadings, motions, and participate in hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
  • Research federal and state issues relevant to the cases.
  • Assist co-counsel with subpoena, discovery, and trade secret litigation matters for corporate clients.
  • Draft and review corporate transactional documents, including guarantee agreements and demand letters.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and advise clients on potential outcomes.
  • Conduct legal research on state laws to advise corporate clients on business practices across the U.S.
  • Draft legal documents and gather supporting evidence for corporate collection matters.
  • Coordinate investigations for personal injury cases and negotiate medical bill reductions with providers.
  • Represent criminal defense clients at arraignments, hearings, and court trials.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local referral sources.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Texas Law license.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills

  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex litigation and transactional matters.
  • Expertise in personal injury, corporate law, and criminal defense.
