A law firm seeks an experienced Of Counsel Attorney specializing in Estate Planning in Kansas City, KS. The role involves working with high-net-worth individuals to develop comprehensive estate plans, including wealth shift and asset protection strategies. The attorney will collaborate with clients on business succession planning and utilize advanced techniques such as spousal lifetime access trusts and grantor retained annuity trusts.

Duties

  • Maintain membership in the Kansas State Bar and fulfill Continuing Legal Education requirements annually.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards set by the Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Provide legal support and advice on estate planning, wealth shift, and asset protection.
  • Draft estate planning documents, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Stay updated on changes in estate planning laws and conduct necessary legal research.
  • Administer trusts and estates, including asset transfers and probate proceedings.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding their matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex estate planning cases.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience, preferably in Estate Planning.
  • Experience with a high-net-worth client base.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning principles, tax laws, and probate procedures.
  • Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate Degree.

Certifications

  • Membership in the Kansas State Bar.
