Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated patent attorney to join its office in Dallas, Texas. The successful candidate will work on complex legal challenges, providing innovative solutions in the field of intellectual property law.

Duties

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in electrical engineering, computer science, and software-implemented business methods.
  • Draft and review intellectual property and technology-related agreements and licenses.
  • Provide patentability, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical arts.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task efficiently, and think independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor, higher degree, or equivalent in Law.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Certifications

  • U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and projects.
