Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level Associate with 3-6 years of experience to join their Boston, MA office. The successful candidate will engage in resolving complex state and local tax controversies, representing clients in disputes with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and other taxing authorities, from audit through administrative appeal and litigation.

Duties

  • Represent clients in state tax controversies and litigation.
  • Handle cases involving corporate income, sales and use tax, and apportionment issues.
  • Draft pleadings and motions, and manage discovery processes.
  • Participate in trial preparation and audit defense.
  • Collaborate with a team on high-stakes litigation cases.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in state tax controversy and litigation.
  • Familiarity with key state tax issues and statutes.
  • Proven litigation and client-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
