Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Technical Advisor or Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in biological sciences to join their dynamic Boston office. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of biotechnology, collaborating with leading innovators to build and strengthen valuable IP portfolios.

Duties

  • Drive the management of global patent portfolios, coordinating prosecution strategies with foreign associates.
  • Draft compelling office action responses and skillfully prosecute patent applications.
  • Partner directly with scientists and inventors to transform breakthrough ideas into strong patent applications.
  • Analyze complex scientific literature, patents, and applications across diverse biological fields.
  • Conduct patent landscape and freedom-to-operate analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with investors on IP diligence for high-impact investment opportunities.
  • Contribute to IP diligence efforts for biotech IPOs and other sophisticated capital markets transactions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Protein Design, and Structural Biology or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to independently identify and analyze scientific and technical issues.
  • Proficient scientific writing ability.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in a team-driven environment.
  • USPTO admission preferred (but not required).

Education

  • Ph.D. in relevant biological sciences.

Certifications

  • USPTO admission preferred.
