Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Commercial Litigation Attorney for its Torrance, CA office. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of commercial litigation experience and an active license to practice law in Illinois and/or California. This role involves working with a team to manage civil court litigation and business-related disputes.

Duties

  • Manage litigation and dispute-resolution matters for clients.
  • Conduct and defend depositions across the United States.
  • Prepare and sign pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Argue contested, dispositive, and discovery motions.
  • Conduct witness interviews and gather client materials.
  • Conduct research and draft legal memoranda.
  • Assist with trials, arbitrations, and evidentiary hearings.
  • Respond to clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, legal assistants, and staff.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois and/or California.
  • 2-5 years of commercial litigation experience at a law firm.
  • Federal and state court experience.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois and/or California.
