Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Business & Tax Attorney to join its team in Southfield. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of handling a broad range of business and corporate matters, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to the firm’s growth. Location:

  • Southfield, MI

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel to business owners and executives on various business and corporate law matters, including entity formation, compliance, contracts, governance, and mergers & acquisitions.

  • Address legal issues at every stage of the business lifecycle.

  • Manage and expand client relationships, handling an existing book of business.

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and practice groups to cross-market legal services and enhance service offerings.

  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to attract new clients and grow the firm's client base.

  • Mentor junior associate attorneys and contribute to the firm’s strategic initiatives.

  • Communicate complex legal information effectively to stakeholders with diverse expertise.

  • Stay updated on current business and tax laws and regulations to provide informed advice.

  • Deliver exceptional client service and high-quality legal work.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business and tax law, with a proven ability to handle complex legal matters.

  • Established transferable business, with at least $400,000 in annual business.

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

  • Exceptional client service and business development skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Excellent writing, legal research, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Expertise in business formation, corporate governance, M&A, corporate tax issues, cybersecurity, contract review, and intellectual property.

  • Strong client relationship management and business development skills.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
