Job Overview

A law firm seeks a detail-oriented Brief Writer Attorney to join their Commercial Litigation team in San Juan, PR. This role involves legal research, drafting, and motion practice to enhance case strategies and outcomes. The ideal candidate excels in legal writing and civil litigation, adept at managing multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Duties

  • Draft and review motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Prepare oppositions, replies, and appellate briefs.
  • Analyze case files, medical records, and evidence to support legal arguments.
  • Collaborate with litigation and trial attorneys to develop case strategy.
  • Assist with discovery responses and legal document preparation.
  • Ensure all filings comply with court rules, deadlines, and formatting requirements.
  • Support attorneys in trial preparation as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with the state bar.
  • 2+ years of litigation experience (Commercial Litigation preferred).
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Experience with motion practice and court filings.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license and good standing with the state bar.

Skills
