Job Overview:

A nationally recognized civil litigation law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate Attorney with a minimum of four years of relevant experience to join its growing team. The firm is widely respected for its work in product liability defense and serves as excess and monitoring counsel across a range of litigation matters. This role offers attorneys the opportunity to gain substantive courtroom and client experience, including depositions, hearings, motion practice, and trials. A strong foundation in litigation, combined with a proactive and collaborative mindset, is essential for success in this position.

Location:

  • Santa Fe, NM

Duties:

  • Manage individual litigation cases from inception to resolution

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and legal briefs

  • Conduct legal research and assist in developing case strategy

  • Take and defend depositions, including expert and fact witnesses

  • Appear in court for hearings, motion practice, and trials

  • Collaborate with partners and other team members on complex litigation matters

  • Lead communications with clients, providing timely updates and strategic guidance

  • Participate in trial preparation and assist in courtroom litigation as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of civil litigation experience

  • Background in product liability or complex tort defense preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation matters

  • Experience with depositions, motion practice, and client communications

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation experience

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license and in good standing with New Mexico

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy skills

  • Strong research and analytical abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple litigation matters in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Team-oriented with a self-starter attitude and high attention to detail
