Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its Lansing, MI office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transactional, regulatory, and government affairs matters, and will contribute to the firm's strategic growth in the mid-Michigan market by serving clients with complex compliance and business needs.

Duties

  • Advise clients on business and regulatory matters, including corporate governance and commercial transactions.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations in various industries.
  • Conduct regulatory analysis and advise on risk management and administrative proceedings.
  • Engage with lawmakers and regulatory bodies to advocate for clients' interests.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver integrated solutions combining regulatory insight with transactional execution.
  • Support business development efforts in regulatory-driven industries.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in transactional and/or regulatory practice areas.
  • Experience in political, legislative, or multi-client advocacy.
  • Strong research, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Michigan regulatory and administrative agencies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication abilities to explain complex regulatory concepts.
  • Interest in contributing to the firm's strategic expansion in Lansing.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed or willing to become licensed and in good standing to practice law in Michigan.
