Associate Attorney for Civil Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented associate attorney in Houston, TX, with 2 to 4 years of civil litigation experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to manage cases from inception through resolution.

Duties

• Assist in managing a caseload of civil defense matters, including sex trafficking, auto accidents, and premises liability cases.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
• Prepare client reports and attend hearings.
• Conduct depositions and assist with trials; deposition experience preferred.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Conduct legal research and analyze case law.
• Accurately capture and enter worked/billed hours, with a requirement of 160 hours per month.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the Texas Bar in good standing.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in civil defense litigation.
• Proficiency in legal research and writing.
• Strong problem-solving and critical analysis skills.
• Effective communication with clients, partners, and opposing counsel.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with proficiency in capturing billed hours.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to the Texas Bar in good standing.
