Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Attorney to join its Los Angeles, California office. The successful candidate will work on diverse intellectual property matters, focusing on patent protection and strategy, enforcement, and client counseling across various industries.

Duties

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in mechanical engineering fields.
  • Draft and review intellectual property and technology-related agreements and licenses.
  • Provide patentability, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the mechanical arts.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task efficiently, and think independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor, higher degree, or equivalent in Law.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar engineering degree and/or work experience.

Certifications

  • U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
