Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A Chicago-based law firm focused on advocating for injury victims is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its plaintiff-side litigation team. This full-time, in-office role offers a hands-on opportunity to represent clients in disputes involving personal injuries, with extensive courtroom exposure and continuous professional development. The ideal candidate is client-focused, trial-ready, and prepared to tackle challenging negotiations with insurance providers while ensuring empathetic and communicative client service throughout the legal process.

Duties:

  • Handle a mix of pre-litigation and litigation personal injury matters

  • Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and legal briefs

  • Conduct legal research and apply findings to case strategy

  • Participate in hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials

  • Take and defend depositions of clients, defendants, and experts

  • Negotiate settlements and draft formal agreements

  • Prepare cases for arbitration and trial, including strategy discussions

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Illinois

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in plaintiff personal injury litigation

  • Proven ability to manage both pre-litigation and active trial caseloads

  • Familiarity with mandatory arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, and AAA underinsured motorist claims

  • Demonstrated courtroom and negotiation skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication

  • Empathetic approach to client relationships

  • Proficient in legal research and motion practice

  • Confident in courtroom and adversarial settings

  • Ability to manage deadlines across multiple active matters
