This role involves working closely with clients and patent examiners to secure patent protection for innovative technologies.

Duties

  • Review technical disclosures and conduct client interviews to understand new inventions.
  • Search literature and patent databases to assess the patentability of inventions.
  • Draft written assessments on the prospects of obtaining patent protection.
  • Write and prepare patent applications.
  • Prepare responses to communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Develop arguments for patentability to present to Patent Office Examiners.
  • Review patents as part of IP due diligence for potential acquisitions or mergers.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
  • Sound judgment, maturity, and an inquisitive nature with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple job responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examiners.
