Multiple defense-side firms across the United States — including medical malpractice boutiques, mid-sized litigation practices, and Am Law healthcare groups — are actively seeking Medical Malpractice Defense Attorneys with 1–10+ years of experience.
With healthcare systems growing and litigation activity rising, firms are expanding their med-mal defense teams to meet increasing case volume.

If you have experience defending healthcare professionals or institutions, including:

  • Defense of hospitals, physicians, and healthcare providers

  • Professional liability and complex injury claims

  • Depositions, discovery, and motion practice

  • Courtroom appearances and arbitration hearings

  • Expert coordination and analysis of complex medical issues

  • Trial preparation or second-chair trial experience

Duties

  • Defend physicians, nurses, hospitals, and healthcare entities in medical malpractice lawsuits.

  • Conduct depositions, manage discovery, and draft motions and briefs.

  • Work with medical experts to evaluate standard-of-care and causation issues.

  • Participate in hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trial preparation.

  • Handle client communication, case strategy, and litigation updates.

  • Assist with trial work, including second-chair opportunities, depending on the firm.

Requirements

  • 1–10+ years of litigation experience, ideally in medical malpractice defense.

  • Strong understanding of professional liability and healthcare-related claims.

  • Excellent legal writing, motion practice, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage active case dockets and tight deadlines.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
