This role is suited for an attorney passionate about protecting immigrant rights, defending individuals in removal proceedings, and providing high-quality legal advocacy in both detained and non-detained settings.

Location

Duties

  • Represent clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in removal defense matters

  • Handle detained and non-detained cases, including bond hearings and individual hearings

  • Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documents

  • Conduct legal research to support court filings and case preparation

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court testimony and immigration interviews

  • Communicate regularly with clients and their families

  • Collaborate with legal staff including attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants

  • Stay informed of updates in immigration law, policies, and EOIR procedures

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in immigration law, particularly removal defense and EOIR representation (preferred but not required)

  • Strong courtroom presence and confidence managing EOIR dockets

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and integrity when interacting with clients

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (Illinois preferred)

Skills

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (required)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities
