Job Overview:
A premier law firm is seeking an associate attorney with 3 to 7 years of experience to join its Real Estate Finance practice in Los Angeles. This position focuses on representing institutional lenders, borrowers, and investors in a variety of commercial real estate debt financing transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong transactional experience and the ability to manage complex financing structures from origination to closing.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial real estate finance documents, including:

    • Mortgage and mezzanine loan agreements

    • Preferred equity investments

    • Permanent and bridge loan originations

    • Construction loans

  • Represent clients in loan participations, syndications, and co-lender/intercreditor arrangements

  • Advise on real estate loan workouts and restructurings

  • Conduct and manage real estate due diligence and transaction closings

  • Coordinate with borrowers, lenders, and internal deal teams across practice areas

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in commercial real estate finance at a top-tier law firm

  • Proven background in handling a range of real estate debt instruments and structures

  • Experience with complex financing arrangements involving multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to lead transactions and manage client communications effectively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Strong academic record required

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (California preferred)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills

  • Deep understanding of real estate finance transactions and deal structuring

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions concurrently

  • Effective communication skills and client service orientation
