Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in North Barrington, IL, to manage litigation cases from inception to resolution. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong writing, analytical, and courtroom skills, eager to work on sophisticated litigation matters outside of personal injury.

Duties

  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, hearings, settlement negotiations, arbitration, and trial.
  • Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, and prepare motions and other court filings.
  • Manage written discovery and take/defend depositions.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy and client communications.
  • Attend court hearings, status conferences, and mediations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Illinois; additional bar admissions a plus.
  • 2-5 years of civil litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and working independently or collaboratively.
  • Experience in commercial litigation, real estate litigation, employment law, or related areas is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois.
