Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney in West Palm Beach. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload from intake through trial or settlement, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. This role requires a background in Florida medical malpractice law and the ability to handle complex litigation independently while collaborating with senior attorneys and clients.

Duties

  • Manage medical malpractice cases in state and federal court from notice of intent through trial and appeal.
  • Analyze medical records with medical experts to develop case strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and trial/settlement documents.
  • Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions.
  • Communicate with clients to provide updates and legal support.
  • Attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials as needed.
  • Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Consult with healthcare clients to provide legal advice and case strategy insights.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, investigators, and experts to develop case theories and trial protocols.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice in Florida.
  • 2-5 years of medical malpractice plaintiff or defense experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Experience with legal software and case management systems is a plus.

Education

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in Florida.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Experience with settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Previous judicial clerkship or trial experience preferred.
