Workup and Settlement Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a diligent and detail-oriented Workup and Settlement Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. This remote position involves managing cases eligible for settlements in large mass torts, guiding clients through the offer process, and collaborating with legal assistants and other team members.

Duties

• Collaborate with the case management team to evaluate decision points for case progression.
• Manage client interactions during the settlement offer process, ensuring clear communication.
• Coordinate with case managers, legal assistants, and team members to execute casework efficiently.
• Serve as the on-call attorney as part of the elevation rotation.
• Interact with clients, outside counsel, experts, and vendors to support case resolution.
• Contribute to refining settlement processes for efficiency and consistency.

Requirements

• Openness to perform unconventional legal work requiring client interaction.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently or as part of a team.

Education

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active member of a US State Bar in good standing.

Skills

• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM/case management software preferred.
• Experience reviewing medical records and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
