Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney in Texas. This full-time, in-office role is ideal for a motivated legal professional with a passion for criminal law, focusing on criminal post-conviction relief and criminal defense pre-trial/trial. Duties

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis for post-conviction relief cases.
  • Draft and file briefs, applications, motions, and petitions for direct appeals and habeas relief.
  • Review trial records and evidence to identify errors or constitutional violations.
  • Represent clients in post-conviction arguments and hearings.
  • Represent clients in all stages of criminal defense, including plea and pre-trial hearings.
  • Develop and execute defense strategies tailored to each client's case.
  • Conduct client interviews, witness preparation, and evidence review.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors for favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and guidance.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff for thorough case preparation.
  • Stay current on legal developments in criminal law.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently while maintaining high-quality work.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas or ability to obtain licensure promptly.
  • Strong interest or experience in criminal law, particularly post-conviction relief and criminal defense.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
