Estate Planning and Probate Associate

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate attorney to join its Trusts and Estates practice in Seattle, Washington. The ideal candidate will have experience in estate planning and probate/trust administration, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff.

Duties

• Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
• Handle probate administration, including preparing estate pleadings and communicating with heirs and creditors.
• Educate clients on estate planning and provide advice on tax implications.
• Explain estate taxes and strategies to minimize them.
• Model financial implications of various estate planning strategies.
• Prepare and review federal gift tax and estate tax returns.
• Draft stand-alone trusts, such as GRATs, SLATs, and QPRTs.
• Research and analyze complex legal issues.
• Communicate professionally with clients.

Requirements

• At least four years of applicable experience.
• Licensed to practice in the State of Washington.

Education

• LL.M. in tax preferred.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Washington State.
