A respected mid-size law firm based in Maryland is actively seeking a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join its expanding criminal law division. This full-time role offers the opportunity to take on immediate courtroom responsibilities, work closely with clients, and grow within a collaborative legal team. Location

  • Linthicum Heights, MD

Duties

  • Represent clients in District and Circuit Court for criminal matters

  • Conduct daily court appearances and attend court & jury trials

  • Perform jail visits to advise incarcerated clients

  • Maintain frequent contact with clients and their families

  • Comply with all applicable legal standards, procedures, and regulations

  • Collaborate with team members to prepare legal strategy and client defense

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in criminal law preferred

  • Trial experience in District and Circuit Courts highly valued

  • Strong legal research, problem-solving, and advocacy skills

  • Effective oral and written communication

  • Proven ability to build client relationships and collaborate with legal teams

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar in good standing

Skills

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation abilities

  • Confidence handling courtroom appearances independently
