Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Family Law Litigation Attorney in Muskegon, MI. The ideal candidate will be confident in the courtroom, possess a solid understanding of case procedures and rules of evidence, and be ready to manage a growing caseload. Duties

  • Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials, both in-person and virtually.
  • Negotiate settlements with parties and other attorneys.
  • Meet with clients to discuss legal needs and explain issues and outcomes.
  • Manage caseload with support from senior attorneys and staff.
  • Prepare legal documents such as motions, orders, and settlements.
  • Conduct trial preparation, including drafting examinations and preparing witnesses.
  • Develop arguments to resolve cases ethically and cost-effectively.
  • Conduct research and compile evidence for cases.

Requirements

  • Active member in good standing of the Michigan State Bar.
  • Litigation experience required.
  • Family Law and mediation experience desired.
  • Self-motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Adaptable team player with a growth mindset.
  • Excellent oral argument and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and rapport-building abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong research, drafting, and written communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
