A law firm in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Mid-level Patent Prosecution Attorney with 1-7 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, particularly in electrical engineering or a related discipline, and must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a robust patent prosecution docket, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments.
  • Analyze office actions and formulate responses to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Collaborate with inventors, clients, and firm attorneys in the preparation of patent applications.
  • Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio management and IP strategies.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence in support of mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements.
  • Stay updated on developments in patent law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar and in good standing in at least one state.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • 1-7 years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably with a focus on electrical engineering or related fields.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of patent law and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workload effectively.
