Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Partner in Milwaukee, WI. The ideal candidate will have over ten years of experience in tort and complex litigation, with a strong track record as a first-chair trial attorney. This role offers the opportunity to lead a growing practice within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties

  • Act as first-chair trial counsel in complex litigation matters.
  • Lead strategy, case management, and litigation from investigation through resolution.
  • Work extensively with expert witnesses in preparing cases for trial.
  • Handle depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Supervise and mentor associate attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups on multi-disciplinary matters.
  • Travel as needed for client meetings, depositions, and trials.
  • Provide proactive and strategic legal counsel to clients.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing in Illinois or Wisconsin state and federal courts.
  • Minimum of ten years of tort and complex litigation experience, including proven first-chair trial work.
  • Extensive experience working with experts in litigation.
  • Strong legal writing, organization, and case management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed billable hours and revenue expectations.
  • Portable book of business is a plus but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed in Illinois or Wisconsin state and federal courts.

Skills

  • Strong trial and litigation skills.
  • Proficient in legal writing and case management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
