Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Workers' Compensation Attorney based in Sacramento, CA. The attorney will manage and resolve workers' compensation cases, focusing on legal strategy, advocacy, and compliance within a structured case management system.

Duties

  • Evaluate new and existing workers' compensation cases for legal merit and strategy.
  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, depositions, and other proceedings.
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings, motions, and settlement documents.
  • Conduct settlement negotiations and advocate for favorable outcomes.
  • Provide legal guidance to Case Managers on assigned cases.
  • Review complex matters requiring attorney-level decision-making.
  • Perform legal research to support case strategy and compliance.
  • Communicate with clients regarding legal strategy and case status.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the case management system.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical, professional, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve legal workflows and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong legal analysis, strategic decision-making, and professional judgment.
  • Effective oral advocacy, legal drafting, negotiation, and settlement skills.
  • Clear communication with clients, courts, and internal teams.
  • Strong time management skills for managing a high-volume caseload.
  • Ability to work within established firm processes and protocols.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and procedures.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in California and in good standing.

Skills

  • Knowledge of workers' compensation statutes and procedural rules.
  • Experience with legal ethics and professional responsibility requirements.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
