Deposition Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Deposition Attorney to join their team in San Francisco, California. This remote role requires active membership in the California State Bar and involves managing a high-volume deposition schedule across the state. The attorney will work closely with the Trial Team to prepare cases for trial.

Duties

• Prepare detailed deposition outlines and examination plans for fact and expert witnesses.
• Take and defend depositions in lemon law, warranty, and consumer litigation matters.
• Coordinate logistics and exhibits for depositions, including working with court reporters and vendors.
• Draft and review deposition summaries, transcripts, and related pleadings.
• Collaborate with the Trial Team to develop trial themes and witness strategies.
• Conduct witness preparation sessions and assist in effective testimony presentation.
• Communicate with clients, experts, and third-party witnesses.
• Maintain accurate case notes and deposition calendars.
• Travel across California for in-person depositions and hearings as required.

Requirements

• 2+ years of civil litigation experience, particularly with depositions.
• Strong command of California civil procedure, evidence, and consumer warranty law.
• Excellent oral advocacy and witness examination skills.
• Outstanding legal writing and ability to produce persuasive deposition summaries.
• Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

• Proven experience in taking and defending depositions.
• Ability to manage high-volume caseloads.
• Familiarity with deposition-related software and remote deposition technology.
