Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney in Cape Coral, FL to lead its Veterans' Disability Department. The role involves managing a team and assisting veterans with VA disability benefits applications, as well as supporting other practice areas such as personal injury and workers' compensation.

Duties

  • Oversee a practice group of 6 to 7 employees.
  • Assist with hiring, evaluation, and termination of staff.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff.
  • Monitor staff productivity and address performance issues.
  • Conduct team meetings to ensure workload consistency.
  • Review caseload and staffing at weekly meetings.
  • Coordinate with tech staff to enhance client database efficiency.
  • Ensure court deadlines and trial orders are properly managed.
  • Draft demand packets and monitor negotiations.
  • Ensure proper medical development of cases.
  • Prepare collateral source summaries for mediations.
  • Assist with document preparation related to case settlements.
  • Communicate with clients regarding claim status.
  • Maintain an appeal deadlines report and ensure compliance.
  • Handle pre- and post-hearing development.
  • Review and respond to VA correspondence and client inquiries.
  • Coordinate timely responses to VA inquiries.
  • Oversee tasks required for processing disability claims and appeals.

Requirements

  • Management, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in veterans' disability claims preferred.
  • Ability to oversee and assist with multiple practice areas.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the state of Florida.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
