Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Bankruptcy and Restructuring Associate to join its Austin, Texas office. The successful candidate will collaborate with directors and senior attorneys on complex Chapter 11 cases, bankruptcy-related litigation, and restructuring matters. This role offers significant responsibility in legal research, drafting motions, participating in hearings, and advising clients in high-stakes insolvency matters.

Duties

  • Work under the supervision of assigned attorneys and support the bankruptcy group.
  • Draft legal documents, including notices, affidavits, and subpoenas.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and other parties.
  • Perform factual investigations and analyze file data.
  • Review and organize case records according to firm procedures.
  • Maintain electronic and hardcopy case files.
  • Balance priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Log and submit case time and expense billing.
  • Provide regular case updates to supervising attorneys.
  • Collaborate well with colleagues and demonstrate teamwork.
  • Travel for trials up to 25-30% as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Texas Law School with strong academic credentials.
  • Licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing with the Texas State Bar Association.
  • Three to seven years of bankruptcy experience.
  • Experience with Chapter 11 cases and bankruptcy-related litigation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Software.
  • Experience with practice and case management databases.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to work additional hours and weekends as required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited Texas Law School.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
