Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Trusts and Estates Litigation Attorney in Oakland, CA. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, working closely with partners and leading all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal. This role involves representing a varied client base, including high-net-worth individuals and fiduciaries, in complex trust and estate disputes.

Duties

  • Manage and litigate complex trust, estate, and conservatorship disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including depositions.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies.
  • Collaborate with partners on complex matters.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Maintain accurate time records and comply with billing requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in California Trusts and Estates Litigation.
  • Strong understanding of the California Probate Code and related statutes.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Experience with trial preparation and courtroom advocacy preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
