Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications

  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses

  • Collaborate with inventors and corporate clients to understand technical disclosures

  • Review and manage patent portfolios for clients

  • Provide strategic intellectual property counseling

  • Communicate effectively with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution

  • Demonstrated interest in intellectual property and patent law

  • Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects

  • Excellent attention to detail and client-focused mindset

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and within a team

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical field preferred (see below)

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) preferred

Skills

  • Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Candidates with other technical degrees (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering) will also be considered

  • Strong technical writing and legal drafting skills

  • Effective communication with clients, inventors, and examiners

  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical information
