Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Midlevel/Senior Associate specializing in Regulatory (Consumer Protection) in San Francisco, California. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data protection legal frameworks, privacy compliance, and regulatory investigations, with a strong academic background and excellent communication skills.

Duties

  • Counsel businesses on global and U.S. data protection legal frameworks.
  • Draft and revise privacy notices, terms of service, and data protection policies.
  • Negotiate professional services and data processing agreements.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations.
  • Advise on privacy and security-related due diligence in corporate transactions.
  • Drive data breach preparation and response efforts.
  • Establish AI governance programs and policies.

Requirements

  • 5-6 years of experience in regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection.
  • Experience defending data privacy and security class actions.
  • Proficiency in compliance with CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy laws.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, FCRA, GLBA, COPPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM.
  • Member of the California State Bar in good standing.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications

  • California State Bar membership.
