Job Overview

A respected law firm based in Denver, CO, is seeking a seasoned legal professional with substantial experience in managing high-value aviation-related corporate transactions. This opportunity is ideal for someone who excels in advising on complex aircraft acquisitions and operational structures, particularly for private and commercial aviation clients. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with international clientele, including aviation operators, private owners, and leasing entities, on a wide range of aircraft matters, from acquisition to regulatory compliance.

Duties

  • Negotiate, structure, and close domestic and cross-border aircraft transactions

  • Advise on ownership and operational structures for business and private aviation

  • Assist clients with FAA compliance, aircraft registration, and regulatory matters

  • Handle tax-related considerations at the federal, state, and local levels in connection with aviation deals

  • Draft and review documents for aircraft purchase, sale, financing, and leasing

  • Navigate issues relating to aircraft completion, customization, and maintenance contracts

  • Serve clients, including high-net-worth individuals, airlines, leasing companies, and financial institutions

  • Provide strategic guidance on operational and risk management issues within the aviation sector

  • Interface with manufacturers, banks, and insurers as part of transactional support

  • Contribute to client development and relationship management efforts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of legal practice focused on aviation-related transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to manage transactions independently from start to finish

  • Deep knowledge of aviation law, FAA regulations, and tax implications related to aircraft operations

  • Proven ability to advise clients directly and confidently

  • Existing relationships or a portable client base are a strong advantage

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the jurisdiction where the candidate will be based (must be in good standing)

Skills

  • Expertise in complex contract negotiation and drafting

  • High attention to detail with transactional documents

  • Strong communication and client advisory skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced practice

  • Familiarity with international aviation laws and standards is a plus
