A law firm seeks a Complex Liability Defense Attorney specializing in ski resorts to join their Los Angeles, California office. This role involves representing and defending ski resorts and mountain recreation operators in litigation and advisory matters, focusing on civil defense related to personal injury claims, premises liability, and regulatory compliance.

Duties

• Defend ski resorts in civil litigation, including personal injury and wrongful death claims.
• Handle premises liability and negligence actions.
• Manage claims involving skiing, snowboarding, lift operations, and mountain activities.
• Analyze and apply state ski safety statutes and liability limitations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients in expert depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices.
• Independently manage a litigation caseload from start to finish.
• Communicate with clients and provide status reports.
• Stay current on developments in recreation law and relevant regulations.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice in California.
• 8+ years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Trial experience is required.
• Experience in litigating recreational accidents is helpful.
• Experience with ski resorts or outdoor recreation providers is helpful.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in California.
