A law firm seeks an experienced Trusts and Estates Attorney/Partner with a portable book of business to join their practice in Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, tax law, probate law, and trust law, and will be adept at managing high net worth clients' estate planning needs.

Duties

• Develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients' specific needs and goals.
• Advise clients on tax implications and strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Handle the probate process, including court proceedings and asset distribution.
• Manage and administer trusts in compliance with laws and agreements.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in estate planning, tax law, probate law, and trust law.
• Experience with high net worth families and complex estate planning.
• Proficiency in succession planning, fiduciary accounting, and tax preparation.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Precision in drafting legal documents.
• Handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.

Skills

• Estate and gift tax complex planning.
• Experience in will and trust contests and family settlement agreements.
