Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney in Fairfax, VA. The successful candidate will manage a team and handle a wide range of immigration matters, including asylum, removal proceedings, family-based, and business immigration.

Duties

  • Help clients complete visa applications or other government forms.
  • Assist clients with issues related to citizenship.
  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings and other legal proceedings related to immigration status.
  • Draft contracts related to international business transactions.
  • Provide advice about obtaining temporary visas.
  • Provide legal representation for individuals facing deportation or removal from the United States.
  • Assist non-citizens with family-based petitions, including translating documents and providing information about the application process.
  • Advocate for clients in front of immigration judges or other government officials to help them obtain legal status in the US.
  • Review clients' records to identify any errors that may have occurred during previous applications or proceedings.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in immigration law, either as an attorney.
  • Bar License is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Fluency in foreign languages is a big plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
