Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate Criminal Defense Attorney in Strongsville, OH. This role offers immediate courtroom experience in misdemeanor and felony cases, working directly with senior staff from arraignment through trial.

Duties

  • Determine case strategies and solutions after analysis.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to client invoicing and meetings.
  • Advise clients on options for successful outcomes.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Appear in court and argue motions during proceedings.
  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence for clients.
  • Represent clients in state and federal criminal cases.
  • Conduct arraignments, bond hearings, and pretrials.
  • Draft and argue motions for suppression, dismissal, and evidentiary matters.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and trial strategy.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors and courts.
  • Manage client communication and case strategy.
  • Handle emergency and after-hours client needs.
  • Coordinate defense strategies with colleagues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a law firm.
  • Ability to work independently with a heavy caseload.
  • Strong decision-making, public speaking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Active membership in the local bar association preferred.
  • Proficiency in legal research software (Westlaw/Lexis).
  • Ability to maintain client communications via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Willingness to zealously represent clients regardless of allegations.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree
