Job Overview

A respected full-service law firm in Bethesda, MD is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing Estates and Trusts practice group. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with estate planning, estate and trust administration, and related tax matters in Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Virginia. Location

  • Bethesda, MD

Duties

  • Handle probate estate administrations in Maryland, D.C., and/or Virginia

  • Prepare fiduciary accountings and required court filings

  • Draft and file estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns

  • Conduct complex tax research regarding income, estate, and gift taxes

  • Develop and implement estate planning strategies for a diverse client base

  • Maintain and grow strong client relationships

  • Collaborate with partners, clients, and external advisors to deliver exceptional service

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration in Maryland, D.C., and/or Virginia

  • Experience preparing fiduciary accountings and estate/gift/fiduciary income tax returns

  • Strong client relationship and communication skills

  • Commitment to outstanding client service and responsiveness

  • High professional standards and strong work ethic

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Maryland or willingness to waive into Maryland

  • Admission in D.C. and/or Virginia preferred

Skills

  • Deep understanding of estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax laws

  • Proficiency in complex tax research and analysis

  • Exceptional writing, research, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Preferred LL.M. in Taxation or current enrollment in an LL.M. program
