A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Construction Law in Cerritos, CA. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in handling construction contract claims and demonstrate proficiency in arbitration and trial preparation.

Duties

  • Handle construction contract claims for both public and private sectors.
  • Prepare cases for trial or arbitration and participate in proceedings.
  • Manage mechanic's lien law, stop notices, and bid protests.
  • Address contract extras, delay damages, and liquidated damages.
  • Conduct depositions of percipient and expert witnesses.
  • Develop and execute discovery plans.
  • Draft motions, depositions, and correspondence related to construction litigation.
  • Interface with clients to discuss legal and strategic issues.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in construction contract claims.
  • Experience with arbitration and trial preparation.
  • Knowledge of public contract law and payment bonds.
  • Experience with alternate project delivery methods.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage discovery processes and conduct depositions.
  • Self-starter with excellent follow-through skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
