Duties

• Independently represent clients in family law matters, including divorce and child custody.
• Provide legal counsel and strategic guidance to clients under Iowa law.
• Draft, review, and file legal documents such as petitions and motions.
• Represent clients in court, including hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Negotiate settlements and engage in mediation to resolve disputes.
• Manage a dynamic caseload with efficiency and precision.
• Conduct in-depth legal research to support cases.
• Collaborate with colleagues for a holistic approach to client representation.
• Mentor and provide strategic direction to paralegals and associate attorneys.
• Engage in client development, community outreach, and networking efforts.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Iowa; Nebraska or South Dakota licensure is advantageous.
• 5+ years of experience in family law with a strong litigation and negotiation record.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and client service capabilities.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management tools.
• An established book of business or referral network is highly valued.

Education
