About Brown & Sterling, P.S

Brown & Sterling continues the business legacy of it's founder's ancestors. The firm's founder, Lawrence F. Brown, Jr. ("Larry") is a descendant of college-educated freed slaves that founded their own businesses when, despite their qualifications, they were not welcomed into the mainstream business world. In later generations, Larry's ancestors, most all of whom had college degrees, experienced the same treatment. So they too started their own businesses. When Larry graduated from college, however, he did not want to be a business owner. While business had been in Larry's family's blood for generations, they had been business owners reluctantly ? only out of necessity. Larry's generation believed that the highest expression of their freedom would come from the social status achieved through a learned profession, so he chose law with the goal of becoming a partner at a prestigious firm.

Eventually, as a tax and business lawyer Larry achieved his goal as a partner in a firm of about 80 attorneys. But after achieving his goal, he wasn't satisfied. He felt trapped ?his entrepreneurial spirit was calling him. So in 1999 Larry left the security of a law firm partnership to start his own firm.

In January of 2000 the law corporation was formed, with its initial offices in what is now Sammamish, Washington. In June of 2001, the firm moved to Fall City, Washington, the firm's present location. Because of the shortage of commercial space in Fall City, the firm initially operated out of a remodeled garage on Preston-Fall City Road.

In April of 2007, the firm, expanded and remodeled its Fall City location. The new building was completed in November of 2007.

Since 2007 the firm has continued to grow and change, but has consistently been recognized by the surrounding community for the quality of its services. Each year since 2006, the firm has been recognized by readers of the Snoqualmie Valley Record as the "Best Law Firm" in the Snoqualmie Valley.

On September 1, 2010, the firm adopted its current name and branding (Brown & Sterling, P.S.) as an acknowledgement of the culmination of changes it has seen over the past several years and as an expression of the firm's commitment to an exciting future of providing top-notch legal services to businesses and business owners in the Pacific Northwest.
