In 1986, the founding partners of Case Knowlson LLP left the nationally prominent firm of Wyman, Bautzer, Rothman, Kuchel & Silbert to form a business law firm designed to meet the needs of corporate clients at reasonable prices. Since then, the firm has prospered by providing its clients with quality work, direct partner contact and reasonable billing. Members of the firm have strong academic backgrounds and substantial experience primarily at major Los Angeles firms. The firm has no associates, and each partner takes direct responsibility for the servicing of client matters. There are no teams of lawyers assigned to one matter, no associates to train at the client's expense, and no layers of attorney review delaying the preparation and delivery of work product to the client. In essence, the firm provides big firm talent with small-firm accessibility.

Early on the firm was recognized by The American Lawyer as one of the best law firms in the country, based on a survey of over 400 corporate clients.
