Simmons Hanly Conroy was started in 1999 by attorney John Simmons to help individuals and families grappling with the devastation caused by an asbestos-related diagnosis. Working on folding tables with rented computers, client stories of perseverance and bravery are what motivated John and the seven original employees to take on some of the biggest companies in the country. They were a small, dedicated group who had experience in asbestos litigation and a mission to provide clients with the respect, attention and care they needed and deserved.
It wasn't long before Simmons achieved success by winning a record-breaking $34 million asbestos verdict for a refinery worker. It was the highest verdict for a single asbestos plaintiff in the history of Madison County, Illinois. Yet the firm would go on to smash that record in 2003 and set a national record with a monumental $250 million verdict for a U.S. Steel worker. It's a record that still stands today - as does John's original mission to put clients first.
