Judge Coffrin left the firm for the federal bench, and later became Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont. Mr. Pierson founded the firm with Albert W. Coffrin in 1962. He attended Cornell University
obtaining his B.A. degree in 1954 and his L.L.B. degree in 1956. He actively practiced law for
over 60 years until his death. Mr. Pierson's practice focused on every aspect of business,
corporate and insurance law.

Mr. Pierson was one of Vermont's most respected and distinguished trial and business attorneys.
He was active in the Vermont Bar serving as chair of the Vermont Judicial Ethics Committee.
He was an active leader of his communities serving as alderman, town councilman, vice-mayor
and head of the building committee. Mr. Pierson was a devoted steward of the firm. We are
greatly appreciative to have had him as our mentor and colleague
