About Wrightsel & Wrightsel

Wrightsel & Wrightsel was formed in 2001 when Doug Wrightsel, after nearly 40 years of large firm experience, teamed up with one of his sons, Brad Wrightsel, to focus their practice in a small family setting. Their distinct backgrounds in similar areas of practice result in a very compatible combination. Their collective legal experience spans over 60 years.

Doug Wrightsel's experience includes will contests, actions construing and challenging validity of trusts, taking action to validate and qualify charitable remainder trusts through use of disclaimers and construction actions, representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries (charitable and individual) in tortious interference actions, and related types of litigation involving the rights of charitable and individual estate and trust beneficiaries. Doug has frequently served as an expert witness in probate/trust and attorney malpractice matters. Doug is also an experienced mediator.

Brad Wrightsel's legal experience commenced as a magistrate with the Franklin County Probate Court, where he heard matters involving estate and trust administration, guardianships, and adoptions. Upon leaving the court for private practice in 1995, Brad's professional experience in probate law naturally progressed to include estate planning. Brad is certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association.

Convenience Our firm is located near the banks of the Scioto river on Riverside Drive in Upper Arlington. The office location places the firm in close proximity to Clintonville, Dublin, Grandview, Hilliard and Worthington, yet still near downtown Columbus. The result is a comfortable office setting that is easy to access with abundant parking.

Commitment to the Profession Both Doug and Brad have many years of involvement with both the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. Doug and Brad are both past presidents of the Columbus Bar Association. In 2008, Doug was the recipient of the Columbus Bar Association's Bar Service Medal for his long history of service to the bar. For many years, Brad was the course planner for the CBA's annual Probate Law Institute. Doug has been a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs and was the former Chair of the Supreme Court Commission on Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.
